There goes my holiday

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

I have been sick for the past two weeks. The last two weeks of holiday before I start work full-time, for life. It sucks to be sick. I got sick the very next day I’ve gotten Spore. Didn’t play much as I was down with fever. Then came Sunday or Monday when the Warhammer Collector’s Edition Early Start commenced and I’ve been stuck with that game ever since. On Thursday, Starwars Force Unleash came, and it is still sealed in plastic on my shelf. Soo many games, so little time T_T

And so I start work tomorrow. I’m kinda excited yet sad that I can’t self-declare holidays at whim, although money is always good. I will still be keeping my part-time job. I will work on Saturdays there to help top up my income. A little extra wouldn’t hurt. If it gets too much for me to handle, then I will drop it I guess.

No more late night gaming Jason. At 7 you’re gonna suit up and join the grind.

Sunset

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

I’ve been writing this short story for a long time now. I started on this piece late last year. The storyline has changed considerably from when I first started and it is a whole different beast now. I’ve interest in many things as Daryl did pointed out last night during dinner. Writing is one of them, I’ve been writing stories ever since I was in primary school.

Since then, I’ve written many many pieces of writings, and I can’t seem to find where all of them have went! I have a couple on my computer now that I’ve written last time and my God how naive those were! I would probably rewrite them and combine them into another piece at some point in time when I am free.

For now, enjoy this piece if you managed to read through that huge wall of text. I did tried to add pictures!

Waaagh!

Friday, September 19th, 2008

I heraz a loud scream. I turnzaround and seez a stunty leapin’ at me. I letz out a loud “WAAAAGH!!!” and I clobberz da stunty and da stunty lay’n in da bush cut almost in half by me choppa. And then I seez sum more stunty. I seez me some stunties in need of killin, dis is war. WAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!

I love me Black Orc so much. Been playing Warhammer Online Collector’s Edition early start for the past few days. As the owner of a Collector’s Edition I was able to start playing the game a couple of days earlier before the masses flood in at launch day, which was yesterday. It is good to be finally being able to play a character that didn’t get deleted every few weeks as it was in closed beta.

I’ve been pvping every chance I get. What I love about the PVP system is that collision detection gets turned on during pvp. That means you can’t walk right through your enemy. Tanks are able to form walls around the squishies to protect them. Projectiles will indeed hit the person in front of you if you are positioned correctly. And tanks are important in PVP for the first time! I’ve seen alot of battles lost because of the lack of tanks. Tanks drive havoc in the enemy ranks while refusing to die. Itz a good time ta be a Black Orc. Waaagh!

Anyways, as is tradition on my blog, I’m gonna post a few pics of the Collector’s Edition Box. And here it is:

Each of the graphic novel’s six chapters tells a unique story that together detail the events leading up to the Age of Reckoning:

THE ART OF WARHAMMER ONLINE
A Stunning Collection of Art that Gave Birth to the Age of Reckoning.

Each quest offers an exciting reward, as well as an exclusive character title, that will aid the player in their battles on the frontlines.

BONUS IN-GAME CONTENT – CHARACTER HEADS
The WAR Collector’s Edition includes twelve bonus heads for additional character customization options. Each race gets a truly unique look (with male and female versions) that is sure to turn heads on the battlefields and be the envy of everyone in the army.

*********

This is by far one of the best Collector’s Edition I’ve ever bought. The amount of stuff is simply staggering. Well worth the price. If any of you are planning to start Warhammer, hop on to the Ironclaw server destruction side and look me up. Of course, I will only reveal my in game name to friends =p

The Weight Lifted

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

I was pretty much knocked-out the whole weekend. I couldn’t walk more than ten steps before I feel tired and I lost my voice. It was a miracle that I managed to make it to the final phase of my interview on Monday, especially with the strong wind and bloody cold weather. It was between two candidates. It was either me or him/she/shim/it.

I accidentally said something wrong in the interview. Something very wrong as it ties to the very core of the job. But I managed to do some damage control and the interview went on for quite a bit. To be fair, I was trying to maintain a very energetic and positive aura while feeling like crap underneath. After the quite long-ish interview, I walked away feeling dejected. I thought I messed it up. They told me that they will call me early today to tell me the outcome.

This morning at my part-time work, my heart was thumping non-stop. Adrenaline was pumping furiously to ensure that my reflex and awareness was up to the mark to pick up the phone at any moment’s notice (It really was very nerve wrecking!). About two-ish, they called. They said after careful review, they pretty much decide to offer me the job!

*Jason’s head shot up from his body, flew around the world ten times and landed back*

V(^.^V

So yeah, I start on the 1st of October. Four months probation instead of three due to Christmas break. After that I will get a performance and pay review. What a big load of weight off my shoulders. I’m so happy ^.^

Oh, and one more really amusing and ironic-ish fun fact. Many many months ago, my good friend Chris told me his boss’ name is Jason Lee. Well guess what, I work under two partners and one of them is called Chris

-_-”

With that being said, its time for me to dive back into Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning for two weeks of hardcore PvP!

Bed-ridden

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

I came home on Friday night with a sorethroat and lethargy. My bro before this day has the same symptoms. I thought to myself, “Oh shit”. I woke up on Saturday morning still feeling tired. The sorethroat is still there. But nothing big that could stop me from earning $135 bucks.

By 1pm, I was almost knocked out. I left early, went back home, showered and went straight to bed till 9pm. This time fever, blocked nose, heavy head, the whole package. After a quick bite, back to bed again. Woke up about 10am today for a quick bite. Feeling a little bit better, but I think I might go back to bed again. How I hate being sick. Hopefully I’m better by tomorrow morning’s interview >.<

Spore: Galactic Edition

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Early this morning around 8am I jumped out of the top bunk, ran out the room and down the stairs when the door bell rang. I needed to do this because the postman does not wait. Any longer and you’ll see him drive off. After grabbing the parcel, I went back to sleep. Sleep is more important. And now that I’ve awaken, it is time to unravel the package.

Spore is a multi-genre “massively single-player online game” developed by Maxis and designed by Will Wright (of the Sims fame). It allows a player to control the evolution of a species from its beginnings as a unicellular organism, through development as an intelligent and social creature, to interstellar exploration as a spacefaring culture. It has drawn wide attention for its massive scope, and its use of open-ended gameplay and procedural generation. Check out the videos below to have an idea on what it is like.

As you all know, I’m a sucker for Limited Edition/Collector’s Edition for video games. Spore: Galactic Edition, includes, in addition to the game, a “Making of Spore” DVD video, “How to Build a Better Being” DVD video by National Geographic Channel, “The Art of Spore” hardback mini-book, a fold-out Spore poster and a 100-page Galactic Handbook published by Prima Games.

Truly Impressed

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Many people were impressed by the displays of the Olympians during the Beijing Games. Their determination, commitment and hard work is phenomenal. They also reminded us that we need to stop lazing around. However, there is someone else that truly deserve praise, respect and admiration from us.

They are the Paralympians. I’ve been watching the Paralympics on and off for a while now and each and every time I struggled to keep my tears back. Last month, we watched Michael Phelps won 8 gold medals. I thought he was the champion. 8 gold medals by himself. If he were a country, he would rank in between Italy and France at number 10.But now, having seen athletes without arms, legs, sight or suffering from genetic diseases breaking Paralympic and world records, I was and still am truly in awe.

For many of us, merely getting through life is in itself a monumental task. To qualify to represent your country on the international stage, that is impressive. But to qualify to represent your country in the Paralympics? These men and women are the ones that should command our utmost respect.

I’m a bit disappointed that the Paralympics is so understated. Although ABC has coverage of the Paralympics, it would have been better if there were more coverage on the top 2 channels eh? If anything they should be more celebrated then the Olympians because of the hurdles that they have struggled through against. If anyone needs an example of courage, hard work and inspiration, they have to look no further than all the athletes in the Paralympics. They have endured more than anyone can. They are the true heroes.

I salute you!

Je démonte

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

While visiting my usual web haunts, I came across this fanvid on Age of Conan. It chronicles Rodion’s journey throughout Hyboria and his subsequent rise to power, french rap style. There are subtitles included for you non-Francophones (I admit I can barely understand it too =x)

And There They Go

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

After three long weeks here, my parents finally left. Some peace and quiet, some semblance of normal life. I love it. Now that they’re gone, it is time to continue my job hunt and studying. Yes, studying. I think I’ve completely forgotten all my accounting knowledge =x
